Treyarch is the studio responsible for all four previous Black Ops games, as well as introducing Call of Duty’s now-famous Zombies mode in 2008’s World at War. The decision was reportedly made, at least in part, due to a conflict between Sledgehammer and Raven Software, the studio handling Cold War’s campaign. ![]() Sledgehammer Games, which most recently led development on 2017’s Call of Duty WWII, was originally handling this year’s entry as expected - that is until mid-2019, when Activision moved development to Treyarch. 2020 sees the Call of Duty reins return to Treyarch Studios, breaking the three-studio rotation Activision has implemented since 2012.
